Role Overview
Reporting to the HE Shop Supervisor, the HE Shop Welder, Level 6, at Red Dog is required to perform rebuilds, fabrication, and repairs on mobile and stationary equipment. Examples of equipment that may need repairs includes haul trucks, dozers, loaders, and graders. Examples of fabrication and rebuild work include large mining equipment buckets, blades and track frames.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform welding work including line boring on equipment and other mining assets as directed
• Design and fabricate various components based on operational needs
• Communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors about assigned tasks
• Provide expert input on upcoming repairs to develop optimal and safe job plans
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Journeyperson Welder with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in mining or related heavy industrial environment
• Excellent interpersonal abilities, self-motivated, and have a strong desire to be part of a team
• Problem solving and decision making abilities
• Work day, afternoon, or night shifts as required
• Work outdoors in various environmental conditions
• Perform labor intensive work when required
• Experience or certifications for operating forklifts and other small equipment is beneficial
