Role Overview
Reporting to the Program Manager, Copper Growth Program, the Technology Manager, Copper Growth Program represents Teck Digital Systems and is the main point of contact for Technology items across their project portfolio and is responsible for technical leadership and successful delivery of their portfolio in support of Teck’s Growth Projects.
Copper Growth is a multi-year strategy to provide our world with the copper critical to support energy transition. Teck has potential to develop 10 new mining operations in the next decade. The Teck Digital Systems Copper Growth Program has the goal to deliver and deploy technologies for these operations in a cost efficient, consistent, and scalable way.
The Technology Manager, Copper Growth role is multi-faceted requiring experience delivering multi-year, sophisticated technology-based project portfolios and leading a multi-year $30M+ technology budget. Through dedicated technical leadership and focused execution, they ensure that technologies are delivered to ramp up our operations on-time and on-budget and setup to be sustained for the life of the mine.

Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Guide the technology delivery for the asset through active sponsorship, leadership and involvement in specific initiatives to ensure they meet time, cost and quality requirements.
- Represent TDS by fostering and maintaining positive relationships with a broad range of corporate and operational partners across the organization to understand needs or risks of the program and provide confidence in delivery.
- Engage with external and internal parties to lead the definition, planning, delivery, and operational readiness of a sophisticated portfolio of Technology projects across Teck’s new growth projects globally.
- Support the continuous improvement of the TDS Copper Growth program by conducting asset technology evaluations and ensure alignment to reference architectures and technology standards.
- Work closely with the Project Managers, Technology Release Management Specialists, and Project Control Specialists to proactively mitigate risks and resolve problems.
- Work with sustainment teams to develop and implement operational readiness plans ensuring effective transitions to operations.
- Financial management including coordinating budgets, forecast and capital allocation processes.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience managing multiple complex business-led projects and cross functional teams to deliver high quality, on time and on budget.
- Management experience in an enterprise organization with at least 3 years of contractor management experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business or a related field.
- Experience leading multiple complex business-led projects and multi-functional teams to deliver high quality, on-time and on-budget.
- Proficiency and experience as a manager in an enterprise organization with at least 3 years of contractor / consultant supervision.
- Experience developing strategies and plans for large multi-functional projects.
- Ability to develop and nurture positive working relationships including the ability to influence and negotiate with business partners and vendors.
- Proficiency in navigating and delivering in ambiguous circumstances including making decisions with limited information, complex collaborator management, changing economic and functional demands.
- Ability to travel to mine site locations in North America and South America to meet with Project leadership.
- Significant knowledge of the mining industry and its operational and information technologies.
- In-depth knowledge and application of project management principles.
- Practical experience handling projects greater than $5MUSD.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills at both technical and executive-level.
- Proficient Spanish, both written and spoken, is considered an asset.
Pay Range: CAD $135,000 - $167,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
