Reporting to the PMO Manager, the Team Lead, Application & Data Projects is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of application and data projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and driving continuous improvement. This role includes supervising and mentoring a group of permanent and contract technology professionals and may require after hours support.

 

The team is responsible for delivering high-quality application and data projects on time and within budget, while adhering to Teck Digital Systems change control and other policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental policies and procedures

  • Lead and manage a team of project managers, coordinators, and business analysts

  • Collaborate with senior management to define project scope, goals, and action items

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key collaborators, including business units, IT, and external vendors

  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure project success, balancing team workload and project priorities

  • Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring proactive problem-solving and issue resolution

  • Implement and maintain established practices for project management, ensuring alignment to company standards and methodologies

  • Track project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, providing regular status updates to senior management

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO, using lessons learned and industry standard and optimal practices

  • Develop and maintain standards and documentation

  • Ensure execution of project plans and timelines

  • Travel to other Teck sites for support and project work as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. A PMP certification is a plus

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing application and data projects

  • Experience in the mining industry or a related field is preferred but not required

  • Solid understanding of application development, data management, and project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall); experience working with PPM tools ideal

  • Demonstrable ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, with outstanding interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and implement tactically

  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and the ability to maintain strong relationships with business partners, business management, and application users

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Spanish is an asset

  • Ability to work autonomously and within a highly distributed team environment; have collaborative approach to problem solving

  • Excellent program and project management skills and strong knowledge of business analysis techniques

Salary Range: $117,000 - $144,000 

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
