Reporting to the Leader, Government & Regulatory Affairs, this individual will support Teck’s Government & Regulatory Affairs (GRA) team by undertaking activities that help advance the company’s legislative, regulatory and policy objectives in Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions where Teck has operations and interests. 


Successful candidates will have the following responsibilities and qualifications:


  • Support GRA research, monitoring, analysis and summary reporting, including developments related to political, legislative and regulatory events at both the federal (Canada, U.S.) and provincial/state (B.C., Montana, Alaska, Washingston) levels.
  • Support the coordination of work between the GRA team and Teck’s Business Units to identify and support areas of policy interest.
  • Support initial drafting of GRA written materials for internal and external audiences, including correspondence, presentations, memos, briefing notes and more.
  • Support internal document, file and contact management.
  • Provide general administrative and logistical support to the GRA team.
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Current undergraduate co-op student pursuing a degree in Political Science, Communications or related field of study.
  • A results-oriented individual who has exceptional organizational, research, and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Keen to take initiative and act proactively to anticipate needs.
  • Self-directed individual who enjoys working independently.
  • A detail-oriented individual with strong data input and management skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
