Delivering Projects at Teck

 

Teck’s Projects group provides leadership, guidance, expertise, and support to deliver projects at Teck. We partner with our business units to deliver Teck’s major projects, carrying a project portfolio of studies, capital infrastructure, and large development projects.

Reporting to the Projects Functional Director, Quality and Risk, the Senior Coordinator, Quality Management will support the quality, risk, and knowledge management functions of the department. This includes coordinating Continuous Improvement (CI) project reviews and other functional activities or events, administrating and managing the Projects Procedures Manual (PPM), and data management for areas such as risk, lessons learned, and assurance.

 

The successful candidate will be a driven and resourceful team player that can successfully communicate and work across internal teams and functional areas. We require someone with the ability to multitask, stay organized, and adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

This position is based in Vancouver, BC, and limited travel to project locations may be required.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) reviews planning and coordination including:
  • Coordinate and participate in quarterly CI planning meetings.
  • Maintain the CI reviews schedule, keeping relevant projects information up to date.
  • Plan, organize, manage, and expedite CI reviews (e.g. Set Up Reviews and Health Checks), coordinating project teams and review teams.
  • Compile and issue CI reports, ensuring follow-up actions are captured.
  • Support coordination of other functional activities such as knowledge session, quality audits, risk or lessons learned workshops, as required.
  • Sharepoint administration and management of relevant functional spaces, QM site, CI site, etc. including the Projects Procedure Manual (PPM).
  • Information and document management, including control of PPM and functional documents
  • Develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with project teams, functional leads, and other stakeholders.
  • Collect and compile feedback and information for monitoring, analysis, reporting, and improvement.
  • Log data and maintain various departmental database systems and lists.
  • Assist with preparing and coordinating reports, presentations, and functional training.
  • Support the administration of project systems and tools Excel, PowerBI, etc. as required.
  • Assist with functional team administrative activities such as coordinating meetings, travel arrangements, and department calendar e.g. including CI events. .
  • Maintain strict confidentiality on highly sensitive matters.
  • Perform ad hoc projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • General administrative tasks such as document formatting and meeting minutes.

Qualifications

 

  • A university or college degree or certificate in project management, business administration, engineering, or other related discipline from appropriately accredited institution.
  • In lieu of the above requirement, candidates with five (5) or more years of relevant experience in administrative support to technical or project personnel.
  • Working knowledge of project practices, continuous improvement and/or quality management.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to prioritize activities based on comparative importance and vitality
  • Independent, self-motivated, able to take the initiative to collaborate closely with other departments and/or external sources.
  • Highly skilled communicator, both verbal and written, including technical writing
  • Comfortable and skilled working with and analyzing data.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Quality Management Systems and the ISO 9001:2015 Standard, an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer and Visio. Proficiency in MS Power Platform an asset.
  • Proficient in SharePoint or other document management system.
  • Knowledge of the mining and or construction industry would be considered highly valuable.

Pay Range: CAD $83,000 - $103,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
