We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Communications and Engagement Specialist to join our Communications and Government Affairs (CGA) team for a full-time assignment with Teck’s Business Transformation Program, which includes design and implementation of a new Enterprise Operating Model (EOM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution.

 

Reporting to the Director, Communications, the Senior Communications and Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communications and engagement strategies for the program team including crafting collateral, organizing events, generating reports/dashboards to ensure the Transformation Program team is updated and engaged. The role also works closely with Change Specialists to ensure consistent, coordinated communication and engagement messaging and approach is provided to partner groups impacted by the transformation! This role is integral to the success of our transformation and the ideal candidate will have strong communications skills and the ability to engage diverse partners across the organization.

Responsibilities

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Build and implement a communications and engagement plan for the Transformation Program to keep team members informed and engaged with program activities, achievements and key milestones
     
  • Collaborate with other CGA team members to ensure consistent messaging and alignment between corporate and program communications
  • Lead development and implementation of Transformation communications and engagement plan
  • Track and coordinate program communications and engagement activities happening within the program team and across the program as a whole (EOM and ERP projects)
  • Craft engaging and relatable content and use diverse communications channels to reach partner groups including newsletters, intranet, presentations, emails and announcements, toolkits, posters and videos
  • Coordinate and lead third-party contractors and consultants to support content development and delivery
  • Coordinate and facilitate engagement activities for the program, including townhalls, Teams meetings, surveys and polls, and team building activities to champion a culture of openness and collaboration.
  • Establish, own and administer the key communications channels for the program team (i.e. MS Teams/SharePoint Hub)
  • Coordinate with program change specialists to ensure consistent program-level messaging and advise on the creation of localized content for the specific project areas
  • Establish feedback mechanisms, assess and evaluate the effectiveness of communication and engagement efforts, adjusting as needed to improve outcomes
  • Collaborate with communications and engagement professionals working on other Teck programs (e.g., Management Operating System) to coordinate messaging, activities, and optimize the use of existing channels
  • Support senior leaders and managers within the Transformation team on effective engagement and communication practices during times of change
  • Support the development of messaging and communications materials for our governance groups to ensure appropriate messaging is consistently shared

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in communications and employee engagement
  • Confirmed ability to create and implement successful communication and engagement strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills towards building positive relationships with collaborators at all levels
  • Experience and competency with digital communications tools and platforms. Experience with creative design and editing tools is a benefit
  • Experience and confidence in providing strategic advice and guidance to leadership
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with the capacity to meet deadlines
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Proven Ability to oversee and manage internal and external resources to deliver against their scope of work
  • Solid attention to detail while maintaining and ensuring accuracy
  • Experience within a change management or business transformation context in preferred

Salary Range: $103,000 - $125,000 

 

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
