Senior Automation Analyst, Processing Systems

Reporting to the Supervisor, Processing Systems, the Senior Automation Analyst is responsible for the end-to-end delivery, implementation, sustainment, and support of various process control systems throughout Teck. They will be joining a high performing team of bilingual (English and Spanish) professionals that safely and optimally deliver a diverse set of technologies that are transforming the way Teck operates its mineral processing and vessel loading systems worldwide. Technologies include process automation, remote operations, thin client human machine interfaces, optimization systems, machine learning, and operator safety systems.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Support process control systems and technologies from a wide range of vendors including Wonderware, Rockwell, OSIsoft PI, Yokogawa, Thinmanager, Versiondog, ABB, and others at all Teck operations
- Develop effective working relationships with mine & plant operators, engineers, supervisors, and management through mentorship and coaching
- Supervise assigned systems and provide 24/7 technical support services for critical production, safety, or environmental issues, preemptively resolving issues through a monitoring program
- Administer Windows and Unix-based physical and virtualized servers and workstations, including operating systems and application patching
- Participate in major projects including new facility development
- Maintain user documentation, including documents of the best methods and use cases throughout the organization
- Facilitate and support cybersecurity standard processes, incident response, and forensics
- Plan, coordinate, and communicate all system changes
- Collaborate with internal (technical analysts) and external teams to resolve sophisticated technical problems efficiently in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Assist with preparation and management of budgets and forecasts
- Develop expertise and breadth of knowledge within the team to ensure systems are reliable, sustainable, and adequately supported, including the development of RASCI’s and critical metrics
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer or Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering with an Automation focus, or a related field, equivalent experience or certification with at least three years of experience
- Three or more years’ experience working in an industrial setting with operational technologies
- Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems, Virtualization, Active Directory, and Networking fundamentals required
- Intermediate-level proficiency with major process-control platforms, including ABB 800xA, Rockwell PlantPAx / FactoryTalk View SE, and Aveva Wonderware System Platform with the ability to configure, maintain, and provide advanced-level support
- Intermediate experience with Aveva PI System, plus basic familiarity with ABB Historian, FactoryTalk Historian, and Wonderware Historian
- Proven working understanding of OT networking and cybersecurity fundamental, including wireless networking and basic firewall concepts to support resolution and continuous-improvement projects in collaboration with dedicated network teams
- Proficient knowledge of industrial communication networks, including Industrial Ethernet (e.g., Ethernet/IP, PROFINET), Modbus TCP, and PROFIBUS DP/PA to interpret diagnostics and collaborate on network performance improvements
- Familiarity with OPC interfaces (UA and Classic) for data integration between control systems and historians is highly desirable
Additional Qualifications Include:
- Ability to understand and develop control systems from engineering documents such as P&ID’s, control narratives, and function diagrams
- Strong process documentation and reporting capabilities
- Stellar program and project management skills with knowledge of business analysis techniques
- Detail and oriented by action, but also able to think strategically delivering a valuable service strategy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Well-developed interpersonal skills; a phenomenal teammate
- Excellent collaborative problem-solving, focusing on root cause resolution (not symptoms)
- Highly motivated individual able to work independently and within a multi-functional team to achieve desired outcomes
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License, comfortable operating 4WD vehicles in challenging terrain
- Valid passport and ability to travel as needed to support Teck’s operations

Salary Range: $93,000 - $115,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
