Teck is a leading Canadian resource company focused on responsibly providing the metals essential for global development and the energy transition while caring for the people, communities and land that we love.
Teck's two regional business units, North America and Latin America, are responsible for Teck's assets through all phases of safe, sustainable development, operation and closure. The business units are supported by enterprise-wide functions that set strategic direction, establish standards and provide governance, as well as supporting the business through shared services, centres of excellence and business partnering.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Production Reporting, Resources & Geotechnical Solutions, the Senior Analyst, Mining & Planning Systems is responsible for working both independently and multi-functionally across departments to lead technical solution delivery and drive operational improvements. This position plays a meaningful role in ensuring systems are aligned with business needs and deliver measurable value to mine operations.

Responsibilities:
- Act as a senior technical analyst for a suite of mine engineering applications used across Teck’s operations, including both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software—pre-built, vendor-supported applications—and custom-built systems that support areas such as drill & blast, geotechnical engineering, geology, compliance, asset management, and financial reporting
- Support the technical analysis, sustainment, and improvement of these applications to ensure alignment with business requirements and performance targets across North and South America
- Collaborate with product owners, engineering teams, and vendors on system implementation, configuration, release planning, and lifecycle management
- Own the translation of business needs into functional and technical solutions—including Power BI reports, SQL queries, and minor system improvements
- Manage the planning and rollout of system updates, including user engagement, training coordination, and documentation of technical uses
- Provide Tier 3 support and manage incident resolution for critical applications, working closely with infrastructure and Tier 2 teams
- Support system integrations and data workflows across engineering, enterprise, and operational platforms
- Work hands-on with tools and technologies including SQL Server, Azure cloud services, and Azure DevOps
- Maintain accurate and current documentation, user guides, and procedures
- Monitor system health, performance, and usage trends to identify and implement improvements
- Contribute to initiatives around security, cloud compliance, and overall system performance
- Participate in agile project workstreams and collaborate with multi-functional teams to deliver scalable, valuable solutions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- 5–7 years of experience in application support, system assessments, or technical solution delivery—preferably in the mining sector
- Solid understanding of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript; deep programming skills are not required
- Demonstrable experience with SQL (including T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning, and data querying); Power BI expertise is a strong asset
- Familiarity with C#/.NET-based applications and hands-on experience with Azure services (e.g., App Services, Functions, Azure SQL)
- Demonstrable ability to analyze business requirements and deliver technical solutions for reporting, workflows, and system configuration
- Experience managing user documentation, small system improvements, and participating in change and release management
- Solid grasp of Windows-based environments, including operating systems, networking, and cloud infrastructure
- Knowledge of ITIL frameworks, particularly related to incident and organizational change
- Good communication and collaborator engagement skills; fluency in English is required, and Spanish is a strong asset
- Ability to work across time zones and manage tasks independently with minimal direction
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to support regional operations and on-site collaboration
