If you are not currently located in the area of this co-op position, you are willing to either commute or relocate to the surrounding area for the entire duration of the co-op term. You are also currently a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Pay Range: CAD $4,100 - $6,000 per month
Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
Working Conditions:
- Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
- Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Coordinate preparation of project reports to ensure consistency, accuracy, and timely submission
- Maintain and manage the Project Action Register, including tracking actions, following up with owners, and driving timely closure of items
- Proactively follow up with team members and construction contractors to gather required information and results
- Support development of project reporting tools and dashboards, including efficiency reporting and critical metric tracking
- Collect, validate, and analyze data to identify trends, variances, and risks
- Investigate root causes of issues and work with project team to define corrective actions
- Support problem-solving discussions and contribute to developing practical, data-backed solutions
- Prepare clear summaries of issues, decisions, and risks for project leadership
- Coordinate and document lessons learned workshops and maintain lessons learned logs
- Support document control and maintain accurate project records according to project procedures
- Assist in meeting coordination including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and action tracking
- Build strong working relationships with project stakeholders on-site and act as a key point of coordination
- Drive accountability within the project team by following up on commitments and advancing delays as needed
- Find opportunities to improve efficiency in reporting, communication, and project execution processes
Qualifications
- Pursuing a post-secondary degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with data and spreadsheets
- Excellent communication skills—confident following up and engaging team members at all levels
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize
- Proactive, assertive, and driven by results —able to follow through and get things done
- Comfortable working in a dynamic construction site environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with Power BI an asset
- Great teammate with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for the duration of the co-op is required
All students will be required to complete pre-employment drug and medical screening prior to commencing work.
