Role Overview

 

The People Systems Co-op Student at Teck Resources Limited supports the HR team by contributing to the effective operation and continuous improvement of HR systems and processes. Based in Vancouver, this role provides hands-on experience working with HRIS platforms such as SAP, helping ensure data accuracy, system functionality, and a positive employee experience.

 

In this position, the co-op student partners with HR and cross-functional teams to assist with system maintenance, data management, reporting, and troubleshooting. They play a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations by responding to system-related inquiries, maintaining employee records, and helping implement system enhancements or updates. A valid study permit and studentship letter will be required where applicable.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in HR technology, data, and process improvement to gain practical experience in a collaborative, fast-paced environment within a leading mining organization.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Uphold the application of HR policies, practices, and programs through ongoing maintenance and support of core HR systems
  • Assist with investigating and troubleshooting data and systems issues, coordinating with end users, Information Technology and vendors as necessary
  • Assist with performing data audits to ensure data integrity
  • Demonstrate dedication to health, safety and sustainability
  • Provide HRIS System project support including data migration and transformation
  • Assist with Project Dashboard and Report Development, testing coordination and reporting

Qualifications

 

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Computer Science, Business degree (concentration in HR, Management Information Systems) program or a related field is considered an asset
  • Fluency in English is a requirement for this role. Proficiency in Spanish is considered a strong asset
  • Ability to contribute beyond strictly technical tasks, with a willingness to engage in a variety of cross-functional responsibilities
  • Knowledge of building pragmatic solutions that can enable and improve business processes
  • Motivated by data analysis and translating it into meaningful information and insight
  • Interest in analyzing data and apply critical thinking to resolve issues and suggest solutions and improvements
  • Strong planning, project management and organization skills
  • Clear and concise communicator
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and tact
  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Excel – Ability to write macros using VBA
  • Able to handle confidential and personal information to ensure compliance with PIPA, PIPEDA, and other regional privacy laws
  • Able to work efficiently independently as well as part of the team
  • Proven ability to learn innovative technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Able to articulate sophisticated concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand

Pay Range: CAD $4,108 - $5,183 per month
