Manager, Value Delivery, Water and Tailings Analytics - RACE21

Reporting to the Director, Value Delivery, the Manager, Value Delivery, Water and Tailings Analytics is responsible for evaluating opportunities for the application of advanced analytics to water and tailings management activities at existing, legacy, and future operations.

Success will require a demonstrated ability in leading teams composed of individuals with disparate proficiencies such as analytics, water and tailings expertise, software development, systems integration, and continuous improvement. A good understanding of the mining process is vital, ideally involving all key commodities that we are involved with. Also vital is expertise in water and tailings management including sophisticated monitoring techniques, reduction of water usage, application of analytics and automation, and permit compliance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Develop products based on found opportunities, and deploy them in partnership with operating sites and end users to achieve sustainable business value
  • Execute a portfolio of analytics products that has clear business cases, strong end user agreement, is aligned with governance commitments, and reflects project plans and continuous improvement trackers
  • Ensure portfolio has initiatives at various stages of maturity to ensure a balanced pipeline and prioritize to reflect team capacity
  • Coordinate a squad of product owners, software developers, data scientists and engineers, deployment specialists, end users, and other specialized resources that are a combination of internal resources, consultants, and contractors for end to end delivery
  • Integrate efforts with other relevant RACE21 teams

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Arts or Science, or equivalent experience; Masters is a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of expectations of disclosed information related to tailings and water performance and the role that technology can play in meeting these expectations
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models, knowledge of agile and traditional project management principles, and able to blend them together
  • Experience with data science, data engineering, or software engineering in the resource industry
  • On site experience in a resource industry company leading Continuous Improvement teams, with involvement in deploying advanced analytics products in an operational context
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
  • Experience managing multiple external vendors simultaneously
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and constantly evolving environments
  • Very effective interpersonal skills including mentoring, collaborating, networking, influencing, providing and receiving feedback, and team building
  • Proficient interacting with individuals from both technology organizations and operational sites, at all levels of an organization
