Manager, MOS Implementation

Reporting to the Program Manager, Operating System, Base Metals, the Manager, MOS Implementation is responsible for supporting the development and user adoption of the Management Operating System (MOS) by providing leadership, subject-matter expertise to our operating sites and oversight of the implementation of MOS at our sites. 

 

This role will require the incumbent to advance the MOS through effective management of on-site implementations with the site leadership teams and a strong focus on organizational change management. This role will need to collaborate with the other team leads to ensure the implementation is in line with our MOS standards, follows our MOS playbook that focuses on change management, and supports the sustainment program of our MOS! This will require teamwork and coordination with our external consultants and internal Teck departments.

Responsibilities

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Manage and progress implementation of the MOS at active sites including corporate level
  • Manage the scope, schedule, cost and quality of MOS program and site implementations and report regularly on the progress, highlights, lowlights, bottlenecks and risks
  • Work with the Change Management team on the activities required for the successful implement and bring people along the change journey
  • Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities found during MOS implementations and work with the site leaders to capture these opportunities
  • Coach and mentor to the MOS standards and approach across Teck departments and sites
  • Understand and align the MOS implementation to our change program expectations and MOS standards
  • Provide feedback from implementations to the team/roles leading and supporting the standards development process.
  • Manage implementation consultants who will be responsible for site assessments, standing up sprint and improvement processes for MOS, and front-line wiring and coaching
  • With the support of leadership and process coaches, transition from consultant-supported implementation workstreams to self-lead coaching that is led by the sites as part of the transition to long-term sustainment of our MOS
  • Support MOS standard application and compliance through MOS implementations
  • Develop and manage the plan for MOS implementations
  • Support the process and leadership coaching and tie to the maturity checklists for the standards.
  • Support the development of the MOS assessment/auditing system for sites’ compliance to Standard requirements.
  • Raise and manage risks to the MOS program

Qualifications

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or other relevant field
  • 15+ years of experience in industrial site operations or equivalent, with demonstrated progressive leadership experience
  • Minimum 10 year’s of hands-on experience at operating mine sites with a focus on developing and/or implementing an operating system.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate diverse teams and individuals
  • Broad understanding of operational excellence within an industrial setting
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and personal efficiency; shown ability to influence
  • Effective communication skills, written and oral
  • Demonstrated great teammate
  • Demonstrated ability to handle external vendors and contracts
  • Process focused and oriented by results
  • Solid facilitation skills
  • Spanish language skills is an asset
