Reporting to the Director, FP&A, the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis is a crucial team member of the Enterprise FP&A team providing insight regarding the financial health of Teck and optimizing long-term planning. This position will be part of progressing key strategic priorities, modelling and maintaining long-term plans and providing business intelligence to deliver on financial targets and maximize shareholders return.

 

Key working relationships within Finance include Treasury, Tax, Accounting, Assurance & Advisory, Corporate Development, Operations Planning and Development, and Finance Business Partners.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Develop and drive consistency and standardization of FP&A methodologies throughout the organization
  • Coordinate and deliver quality outputs for consolidated Life of Mine (LOM) O & S, 5-year plan
  • Ensure that all investment decisions support overall strategic objectives.
  • Own Corporate Long-term model enabling improved performance insights. This includes creating financial models that support the company's growth and operational goals.
  • Responsible for the Capital Decision Analysis Framework (CDAF) which includes the recommendation of total capital pool to be deployed amongst the sites (top-down view of capital) to help Senior Leadership make informed and strategic investment decisions.
  • Establish performance indicators to track the financial and operational performance of mining projects.
  • Key point of contact for all planning improvements to OneStream related to forecasting and budgeting.
  • Improve the linkage between OneStream and Life-of-Mine (LOM) models.
  • Develop Total Shareholder Return Framework and track this quarterly for executive team.
  • Develop and analyze various financial scenarios and stress tests to understand the potential impact of different investment decisions on the organization's financial health.
  • Responsible for doing the analysis on the individual and growth projects and provide inputs to the ELT and influence the decision making.
  • Maintain the relevant Finance Master Data Steward for corporate planning including provisioning data for the organization as required
  • Provide clear and comprehensive financial reports to Executive and Senior Leadership Team and investment committee
  • Responsible for establishing and delivering to the annual corporate planning calendar including alignment with the senior management team.
  • Partner with operations and functional teams to handle cross-functional and operational dependencies to ensure cohesion across the company.
  • Support the Director FP&A with influencing decision-making related to strategic, financial, commercial and operational objectives, growth opportunities, special projects and value chain trade-offs through the provision of business intelligence from corporate planning.
  • Mentor teams on successful approaches, tools, and standards

Qualifications

  • A college or university degree in or equivalent to Business, Finance, Engineering; MBA
  • Professional designation (e.g. P.Eng. Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Professional Accountant, or Master of Science in Mineral Economics)
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience after attaining designation in mining industry
  • Considerable experience with Management and Board reporting
  • Expertise with Excel modeling
  • Extensive ability to build and grow relationships within a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced ability to develop and interpret financial models with a strong understanding of business drivers and the ability to explore and recommend opportunities to improve performance and mitigate risks in decision making.
  • Anticipate future scenarios and share insights with senior leaders
  • Proficient at capturing and synthesizing inputs, framing opportunities and leading decision-making conversations from a fact-based position
  • Develops analytical methods and advanced concepts in finance with the ability to apply economic, accounting, financial and investment principles to solve corporate business problems
  • Prioritizes relationship-building skills, collaborative, and adept at working with personnel at all levels of seniority across the Company and external stakeholders like relevant industry and FP&A professional organizations to promote capability development
  • Self-starter who can prioritize amongst multiple projects at once and work with limited guidance
  • Student of the industry – possess or develop the background and expertise to contribute to commodity and industry specific analysis both regionally and globally and use that understanding to pressure-test and add context to analysis
  • High degree of critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Show curiosity through asking well formulated questions and by taking personal risk to raise points of creative tension
  • Deliver with a “fit-for-purpose” approach focusing on the key levers or inputs that have a material impact on positive outcomes and results
  • Mentor people on the team as well as on other teams

Salary Range: $144,000 - $178,000 

 

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
