Role Overview
Reporting to the Head, Enterprise Risk, the Manager, Enterprise Risk, will play a pivotal role in the management of Teck’s strategic and enterprise-level risks. This role will shape the development, evolution and application of Teck’s enterprise-wide risk management framework, and work with senior leaders to effectively assess and manage material enterprise-level risks.

Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Foster and promote a risk-aware culture, in which all Teck employees are leaders in risk management.
- Embed Teck’s risk management framework across key decision making and planning processes to enable risk-informed decision making and to ensure risk-taking is aligned to Teck’s strategic objectives and risk appetite.
- Work collaboratively with other risk management leaders to enable a comprehensive, coordinated and credible view of Teck’s enterprise risks and associated opportunities.
- Lead Teck’s strategic risk management process, including supporting the assessment of principal risks and risk appetite, and the monitoring and reporting of associated key risk indicators.
- Develop actionable risk intelligence to support an understanding of key risk drivers and control effectiveness. Contribute to executive management and Board reports.
- Manage the development, continuous improvement, and effective application of Teck’s risk management framework, including risk management policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.
- Direct and support risk assessments for strategic and enterprise-level risks.
- Build, facilitate and deliver ongoing risk management training and coaching to Risk Champions, risk and control owners, and other internal partners.
- Ensure that resources, systems, and procedures are in place, to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruption.
- Mature Teck’s integrated risk management model, and improve risk governance
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA), professional certifications in business or risk management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 10 years of risk management experience; experience in mining, natural resources or energy is considered an asset.
- Deep proficiency and knowledge of risk management frameworks and methodologies.
- Knowledge of industrial hazards, and large scale industrial or resource operations.
- Bias for results with strong planning, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.
- Outstanding critical thinking, analytical and reasoning skills, with the ability to test and refine hypotheses in uncertain environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with a track record of building relationships and credibility across all levels of the organization.
- Engaging facilitation, coaching, and training skills.
- Effective in employing internal and external SMEs, sources, and frameworks to drive insights and recommendation.
- Thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and demonstrates agility in responding to shifting priorities and emerging issues
- Spanish language skills are an asset
Pay Range: CAD $147,000 - $182,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
