Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Excellence, the Lead, Commercial Planning and Analysis will perform commercial analysis for a variety of projects as well as coordinate and lead commercial planning activities. This role supports the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Team, ensuring the successful execution of critical initiatives. The Lead will apply their analyst skills while gaining exposure and experience working across Teck’s Supply Chain and Marketing and Logistics teams. They will coordinate the development, tracking, and execution of commercial projects; drive coordination of the Commercial 5-year planning process, ensuring alignment with long-term strategic goals; and identify and prioritize key initiatives to achieve annual objectives and enable business growth. They will also provide analytical support for assessing marketing and logistics opportunities and contracting activities, including market and spend analysis. The Lead will develop and handle consultant service contracts, focusing on driving value creation throughout the contract lifecycle, and conduct regular reviews on annual spend to find opportunities to improve. Effective communication with the Commercial Team is critical, including providing updates on project status, risks, and opportunities.
The Lead will implement routines and performance metrics to monitor the teams progress against annual objective targets. They will lead, support, and/or provide project management for select initiatives, ensuring timely and successful completion, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure project alignment and resources are adequate to meet timelines and targets.

Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Provide analytical support for commercial projects supporting the development of value creation and risk assessments.
- Provide analytical support and market assessments for contracts.
- Coordinate the development and consolidation of the 5-year and annual planning processes for the Commercial Team.
- Collaborate with Commercial Leadership to define key projects that support annual objectives, and implement routines to ensure transparent progress and address roadblocks.
- Lead and/or support commercial improvement projects, working with various departments within the Commercial Team to drive outcomes.
- Deliver weekly and monthly commercial reports and prepare notes for executive meetings with key customers or stakeholders.
- Perform administrative duties related to the job as required.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in a related field such as Business, Finance, Supply Chain or Logistics.
- 5+ years of experience as an analyst in the mining and metals industry.
- Good interpersonal skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Planning and prioritization: Ability to effectively manage time, resources, and tasks.
- Deep analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
- Strong financial acumen including deep understanding of financial principles and budgeting.

Salary Range: $103,000 - $127,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
