Reporting to the Vice President & CIO, the Director of Infrastructure and Operations (OT & IT) is responsible for supervising and leading the infrastructure and operations of both Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) across all Teck mining sites and corporate offices. This role will ensure the flawless integration, reliability, and also the security of all technology systems to support Teck's operational, corporate, and strategic objectives. Teck operates across North, Central, and South America with 4 active mine sites, 3 sites in early stages of Development, a smelter, and 3 large corporate offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Santiago supporting a total of ~8,000 employees!

Responsibilities

•    Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures 
•    Develop and implement the global strategic vision for OT and IT infrastructure and operations
•    Develop a team of IT and OT professionals, encouraging an innovative culture, collaboration, and continuous improvement
•    Collaborate with senior management to align technology initiatives with business goals
•    Supervise the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust and scalable IT and OT infrastructure
•    Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all technology systems, including networks, servers, storage, and cloud services
•    Manage disaster recovery and business continuity planning
•    Optimize operational processes and workflows to improve efficiency and productivity
•    Implement best practices and standards for IT and OT operations, including ITIL and ISO frameworks
•    Supervise and analyze system performance, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively
•    As first line of defence; design, implement, and maintain risk and security controls in alignment with corporate standards to protect technology infrastructure and operations
•    Develop and implement technology standards and security procedures to protect Teck's digital assets, measure performance against digital risk and cyber security objectives, and integrate with the second line’s cyber defence capability
•    Participate in regular audits with the third line of defence while also conducting your own assessments and reviews to identify risks and implement treatment strategies. Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity threats and trends, ensuring that the appropriate controls within Teck's infrastructure remain current and effective
•    Manage and supervise technology projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope
•    Coordinate with multi-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and partner satisfaction
•    Track project progress, providing regular updates to senior management
•    Establish and maintain positive relationships with critical technology vendors and service providers
•    Negotiate contracts and service level agreements to ensure efficient value and performance
•    Engage with internal partners to understand their technology needs and provide effective solutions

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with a Master's degree being preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in IT and OT infrastructure and operations management, preferably in the mining or resource industry
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Solid knowledge of IT and OT systems, including networking, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and industrial control systems
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills
  • Spanish is not required but is a very useful capability in the role

Salary Range: $194,000 - $240,000 

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
