Role Overview

 

Reporting to the Global Data Owner, Record to Report (RTR), the Data Specialist, Finance will serve as a key driver of data excellence within Teck’s Transformation Program.

 

This role is responsible for shaping and executing strategies for data governance, data quality, and data migration, ensuring seamless integration with business processes and IT systems. The Data Specialist will work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, complete, and ready to support Transformational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Support the development and implementation of Teck’s data governance framework for the assigned data domain.
  • Improve benchmarks across data migration, governance, and reporting activities to achieve business objectives.
  • Implement data migration strategies, including profiling, cleansing, and validation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and sufficient documentation for the data migration process
  • Coordinate data mapping logic creation and support development of load programs through ADMM tool (SAP ADMM by Syniti)
  • Work together with Teck ERP Data Lead and the EY Data Lead to develop detailed migration strategies for simulated and live data transfers.
  • Co-lead mock load and verification processes, including template creation and execution oversight.
  • Contribute to and review Business Process Documents (BPDs) for all in-scope data processes (CRUD).
  • Review and Data Object Master and Data Conversion Program Functional Specifications.
  • Provide input on the future state Report Master List (RML) and participate in data architecture definition.
  • Lead planning and delivery of reporting-related activities across the Transformation program.
  • Lead Teck data stewards through mock and production data migration cycles.
  • Guide data stewards in collecting and constructing net-new data required for SAP.
  • Assist functional teams in defining target data structures
  • Collaborate with counterparts (e.g. data leads and process leads) within R2R and other functions to ensure data alignment
  • Act as a change champion, ensuring successful adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working.
  • Lead resolution of data defects and ensure readiness for cutover activities.
  • Educate and train teams on confirmed methods, tools, and standards

Qualifications

 

  •  Bachelor’s Degree required in business or management information systems; Chartered Professional Accountant and/or data management related certification is an asset
  • 8–10 years in data governance, data migration, or enterprise transformation roles.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead multi-functional data initiatives in complex environments.
  • Experience with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, JD Edwards and/or data migration tools (e.g., Syniti ADMM) is highly desirable. Experience with reporting tools is also an asset.
  • Strong collaboration skills with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to interpret data and drive decisions that support transformation goals.
  • Clear and effective communicator across technical and business audiences.
  • Champion new processes and systems to ensure successful adoption across the organization.

 

Pay Range: CAD $105,000 - $136,500

 

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
