For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Computer Science, Information Security, Cyber Security, Risk Management, or a related field.
Supporting the Digital Risk & Compliance team in the Digital Risk & Cyber Security department, the co-op will be reviewing cyber risk assessment requests, conducting basic cyber risk assessments, supporting more sophisticated assessments, and providing reporting to senior leaders.
If you are not currently located in the area of this co-op position, you must be willing to either commute or relocate to the surrounding area for the entire duration of the co-op term. It is also required to currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (the co-op will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Champion the 3 lines of defense model for risk management and act as a 2nd line of defense facilitator regularly interacting with the 1st line of defense
- Record cyber risk assessment requests in the intake tracking system
- Review cyber risk assessment requests for assessment level assignment
- Conduct Basic Assessments and some Intermediate Assessments and, occasionally, support Advanced Assessments as assigned
- Support risk briefings with assessment requestors and document risk assessment reports
- Support assessment requestors with their risk register updates
- Assist in the delivery and maintenance of business operations, not limited to maintaining performance and compliance dashboards, developing reports or presentations, alongside maintaining various management materials
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to Computer Science, Information Security, Cyber Security, Risk Management, or a similar field
- Demonstrated Teck values in being responsible and courageous, respectful and inclusive, and humble and driven
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to build clear, concise, and engaging materials
- Basic understanding of cyber security concepts and frameworks
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Microsoft collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint)
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail
- Adaptability and flexibility, the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups
Pay Range: CAD $4,000 - $5,100 per month
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
