Role Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Architecture, the Business Architect will work with business representatives and partners to align people, processes, and technology with Teck’s goals.
The ideal candidate will have experience facilitating planning workshops, crafting coordinated roadmaps, supporting the development of business cases, and improving business processes.
The Business Architect will offer analysis, advice, and support to business collaborators and senior technology leaders to ensure delivery of intended business results. Shows the ability to cooperate with TDS business partners, define and develop suitable approaches, and build actionable plans to advance related business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

- As a core member of the Enterprise Architecture team, this role will engage with TDS Business Partners and corporate participants to develop unified strategic plans. As part of this process, the Business Architect will:

- Provide mentorship in the development of strategies and future-state roadmaps to support key operational objectives and capabilities.
- Produce and maintain business architecture artifacts, such as capability maps, value streams, process diagrams, and other architecture models.
- Analyze, map, and model current business processes, capabilities, and organizational changes.
- Coordinate and support the selection of technology to support encouraged business goals and optimize value.

- Collaborate with executive management, site leaders, and other architects (enterprise, solution, and technical) to ensure successful implementation of strategic and operational plans.
- Align the technology portfolio to effectively support strategic business goals, capability maturity plans, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate the rightsizing of the technology portfolio to enhance business value while reducing total cost of ownership.
- Increase transparency around the financial cost to support business capabilities and services at the local and enterprise level.
- Collaboration: Work closely with technology leaders and collaborators to develop coordinated future state plans, associated strategies, and key initiatives to support stated business goals.

- Work together with technology collaborators, including business partners and project managers, to modernize and align the technology portfolio in support of future state plans.
- Coordinate people, processes, and technology to support operational and strategic goals.
- Develop and maintain collaborators’ roadmaps to inform and prioritize investment planning.
- Continuous Improvement: Provide forward-looking mentorship based on emerging trends and innovations to support continuous improvement in process and technology:

- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technology to drive innovation.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to architects and business analysts to encourage effective long-term planning and technology use.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Applied Sciences field (Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology) or Business Administration.
- 10+ years of combined experience in organizational planning, Enterprise Architecture, Business Analysis, or Management Consulting within a large enterprise and multinational context.
- Experience in crafting and putting into action strategic plans in a complex organizational environment.
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and experience contributing to the development of enterprise architecture strategy.
- Strong operational insight in critical ore mining and/or oil and gas industries to assist with effective forward-looking planning and delivering value.
- Functional familiarity with supporting enterprise functions including Supply Chain, Finance, and Risk Management to improve value stream and process efficiencies.
- Outstanding communication, persuasion, and strategic insight to foster collaboration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to evaluate complex systems, processes, and integrations and develop actionable plans and effective solutions.
Pay Range: CAD $138,000 - $170,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
