Analytics Co-op, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

For the Analytics Co-op, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI), we are specifically targeting students who have a curiosity about the practical applications of insights captured from data to better understand the impact, progress and opportunities of our EDI strategies. This role supports the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team in growing analytics capabilities to drive data-based decision making. They will capture EDI data from across the organization through feedback mechanisms and reports and analyze and interpret the results to provide management with strategy recommendations. This includes evaluating existing and new reporting processes and technology. Depending on the needs and location of the team, you will need to work PDT or MDT or relocate to a specific office (site-based). You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Being a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures  

  • Use SAP SuccessFactors and Power BI reporting tools and analytics to generate insights and metrics related to HR processes, employee data, and system performance  

  • Organize large amounts of data into concise and robust summaries, by using and creating dashboards and other reporting tools for leadership and partners  

  • Provide advice and fact-based assessments related to technological tools or programs and their ability to tackle business needs 

  • Proactively identify business and system deficiencies and opportunities 

  • Provide ongoing support to end users, addressing inquiries, solving issues, and resolving system-related problems in a timely manner 

  • Develop and deliver training materials and user documentation to promote system adoption and proficiency among employees

  • Supporting the EDI team with data exploration and analysis, feasibility studies, critical initiatives, running scenario analyses, platform feature development, product integrations, and application (vendor) demonstration(s)  

  • Help to design and deploy the process for delivering regular EDI reports and surveys along with analyzing and interpreting the data to make recommendations to management  

  • Conducting regular data cleansing, data preparation, data modeling, and data maintenance  

 

Qaulifications

  • Working towards a degree in business analytics, data science, or computer science  

  • Share the team’s vision on diversity, equity, and inclusion and should demonstrate continuous dedication to helping the Teck meet its goals 

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to non-technical audiences 

  • Effective communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functional teams and engage with stakeholders at all levels 

  • Solid grasp of HRIS principles, processes, and best practices  

  • Experience with leading or participating in the gathering and documenting of business processes and requirements for the system with key business users  

  • Specific Technical skills in relational database management, data visualization and dashboarding, report generation, predictive analysis  

  • Experience with tools such as PowerBI/Power Apps, SQL Server Management Studio; experience with SAP SuccessFactors modules such as Employee Central (EC) is an asset 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)  

  • Prior experience in project management or business analysis is a plus  

  • Proven track record to grasp new technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently 

  • Adaptable and flexible, as well as open to learning and trying new things  

  • Motivated self-starter, able to work under minimal direction and be able to coordinate several tasks and/or projects simultaneously 

 

Wage Range: $3900 - $5000 / Month

Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
