Role Overview

Reporting to the Lead Training Designer, the Training Developer is responsible for building and updating training material for Highland Valley Copper mine.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Act as a courageous safety leader by adhering to and promoting safety and environmental standards across all training and apprentice activities.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as scheduled performance index and quality of training materials to the Lead Training Designer.
  • Build and update training material including Computer-Based-Training (CBT), On-The-Job-Training, PowerPoint, Assessments and linked SOP documents.
  • Coordinate with Lead Training Designer on content of training material
  • Track and maintain version control and document standards of training material.
  • Track development pipeline and meet service level accountability for content delivery
  • Ensure consistency across Computer-Based-Training (CBT), On-The-Job-Training (OJT) and classroom materials.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in apprentice recruitment, development, and retention practices.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in training delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrate and promote core values of Safety, Sustainability, Integrity, Respect, Excellence, and Courage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
  • Exemplary safety leadership and commitment to maintaining high safety standards;
  • Personable, adaptable, and energetic, with strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and model outstanding company culture.
  • Five years of open-pit mining or training experience, preferred;
  • 2–5 years of relevant leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, awards, and experience;
  • 5-8 years of experience working with site-wide organizational systems and productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite);
  • 2–5 years of experience using coaching tools, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience;
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
  • 2-5 years of equipment knowledge experience or a combination of education, certification, and experience;
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal), organizational, and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficiency with training management software, learning management systems (LMS), and other digital tools to streamline administrative tasks and enhance the training experience;
  • Strong coaching skills with the ability to develop and mentor others;
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP SuccessFactors, and PowerPoint;
  • Detail-oriented, with accuracy in managing training design and development;
  • Analyzing training data and feedback to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance the impact of training initiatives;
  • Able to uphold ethical standards in managing training design and development, respecting confidentiality, and treating all participants fairly and impartially;
  • Possess a valid driver’s license;

  • SafetyCulture , and SAP Success Factors administrator experience.

Salary Range:  CAD $93,000 - $115,000 per year

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
