Role Overview
Under the supervision of other Metallurgical Development personnel, assist with work load during the startup and operation of mini continuous and pilot test circuits. Assist with other routine test work as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Prepare and submit samples to assay office
- Record and enter information into both hard copies and electronic form: lab, mini continuous, and pilot operating observations, readings and parameters
- Under the direction of technologists and senior technologists, assist with the operation, troubleshooting and modification of laboratory and pilot-scale equipment.
- Work independently when required, resolve routine issues, and refer to more senior personnel for any complex issues
- Assist with maintenance of laboratory and pilot scale setups, following directions from technologists and senior technologists
- Assist technologists and senior technologists with various aspects of their projects
- Assist with administrative aspects of Met Dev team including (but not limited to) equipment and chemical inventories, scanning of old technical reports, etc
- Communicate effectively across shifts, with more senior technologists, supervision, project leaders and other technical personnel using both written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized Institute of Technology or University in metallurgical, mineral processing or chemical sciences or certified with Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) in a relevant field is required
- A minimum of 6 months relevant experience with working knowledge of physical, chemical and metallurgical processes is required
- An ability to work as part of a team to contribute to the success of a technical group is required
- Highly organized self-starter with strong time management skills are a must
- Proficiency in computer systems: MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required.
- Experience with Trail’s process data systems, (e.g. PDH, LIMS, GE Aps) or metallurgical modelling software an asset
Pay Range: $38.24 - $41.33
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
