Technical Supervisor, Metallurgy Control

Reporting to the Chief Metallurgist, the Technical Supervisor, Metallurgy Control is accountable for ensuring the stable performance of the metallurgical processes in their respective area by achieving consistent alignment between process design, metallurgical control and analysis. 

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environment rules and procedures.
  • Ensure metallurgical design of the processes in respective areas fits the required optimal feed treated and output required.
  • Ensure the metallurgical process control strategy in respective area is defined and aligned with the metallurgical design. This includes proper process management (IPM), protocols, process control strategy protocols and sampling protocols.
  • Ensure the metallurgical analysis and monitoring protocols fit the metallurgical design and metallurgical process control requirements. This includes feed monitoring, process performance analysis, reagent/utilities efficiencies, and recovery analyses.
  • Ensure proper response instructions for deviations and provide troubleshooting protocols for investigating Material Unwanted Events.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of the metallurgical control functions of the metallurgical processes in respective areas.
  • Lead a team of technical personnel (Engineers and Technicians) to fulfill the requirements above.
  • Interact with various groups to fulfill the requirements above (Production, Asset Management, Finance, and Commercial Services).

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in technical operations.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience in managing and developing people would be an asset.
  • Understanding of Teck Trail Operations Production unit operations would be an asset.
  • Successful candidates will have demonstrated the ability to meet the above criteria through past performance and should have a desire to carry this work experience into a new challenge.
