Teck is looking for an experienced Superintendent, Metallurgy Control to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to the Chief Metallurgist, the Superintendent ensures performance of the metallurgical processes for the business area by achieving alignment between process design, metallurgical control, and analysis

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Lead a technical team including engineers, EITs and technicians with a focus on performance management and talent development
- Champion the Integrated Process Management (IPM) system at Trail Operations through standardizing processes across all business units and implementing continuous improvement processes to ensure the sustainability and profitability of Trail Operations
- Ensure that process metallurgy is optimized through process monitoring and metallurgical analysis. Focus on increasing minor element removal capacity within Trail Operations to unlock recoverable metal value associated with in-process inventories
- Collaborate with Operations to achieve business objectives through guiding the overall technical direction and enhancing technical standards
- Investigate process upsets and variations and embed findings/outcomes in standardized work processes. Establish troubleshooting protocols
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities by monitoring the impact of process metallurgy on operating costs and revenues. Oversee key strategic improvement or stabilization projects within Trail Operations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering required
- 10+ years experience in technical operations
- Eligible for or is registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia (EGBC)
- Knowledge of metals refining business processes, concepts, and terminology
- Significant, hands-on experience within a metal processing environment and engineering of pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical areas required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to influence others, build relationships and work with cross-functional teams
- Strong problem solving, organizational, prioritization and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide leadership to a diverse team including union members

Salary Range: $135,000 - $167,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
Please note this role does require the successful candidate to live within 100KM of Trail, British Columbia. Relocation assistance will be offered however there is no camp or company housing.
