Sr. Analyst, Data Engineering & Analytics - Temporary 12-18 months

Teck is looking for an experienced Sr. Analyst, Data Engineering & Analytics to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to the Group Leader Applications & Information, the Sr. Analyst, Data Engineering & Analytics is accountable as a technical specialist and scrum master for the development, implementation and maintenance of data pipelines, data models and reporting systems used at Trail Operations. As a senior position in the Trail Digital System (TDS) group the Sr. Analyst, Data Engineering & Analytics will work closely with TDS resources and other stakeholders to ensure the reporting needs of site and broader organization are satisfied.

Please note this role does require the successful candidate to live within 100KM of Trail. British, Columbia. 

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures 
  • Lead or participate in the development of data engineering standards and patterns utilized by Trail 
  • Lead or participate in all stages of the development, maintenance, testing and deployment of the data pipelines, data models and reporting systems for Trail Operations and across the organization
  • Identify, recommend, lead and participate in short and long term projects to maintain and improve the ongoing availability, reliability, performance and usability of date pipelines, data models and reporting applications
  • Accountable for ensuring that projects, including software solutions and system enhancements, are appropriately scoped and designed to satisfy business objectives, while also being capable of delivering anticipated value in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure that change management, security and audit policies and procedures, as well as technical standards are followed
  • Assist in the development and updates to project scope documents, project schedules and other project deliverables by engaging other resources, vendors, consultant and business stakeholders as required
  • Develop and maintain documentation of software functionality and system design
     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in Data Engineering and/or  Business Intelligence & Analytics 
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, data lakes and data warehouses is required
  • Desire to keep informed of developments in systems and technology through a combination of formal training and self-study
  • Ability to comprehend business drivers and challenges faced by clients
  • Ability to proficiently deal with multiple competing priorities
  • Strong critical thinker with an aptitude for problem solving
  • Effective verbal communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts to business users
  • Personable and interacts in a cordial manner, effective results-driven team and cross-team player

Salary Range: $51.01/hr
