Teck’s Trail Operations, located in the community of Trail in British Columbia, is one of the world’s largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Located in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern, British Columbia, Trail offers outdoor adventure at your fingertips. 

 

Role Overview

 

Reporting to a Production Superintendent, the Shift Leader will be accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the plants and for the development and training of employees reporting to them.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Develop and train direct reports
  • Ensure the plant is operated in conformance with site policies and targets
  • Collaborate with various departments to maintain operational readiness
  • Facilitate and perform troubleshooting in support operational readiness
  • Communicate and Coordinate with upstream and downstream plants
  • Schedule crew training, vacation, and replacements for absences
  • EH&S supervisory responsibilities as per WorkSafe BC and site policy

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in an industrial environment
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Exposure working in a unionized environment and knowledge of Collective Agreements
  • Able to plan and organize your own work as well as the work of others
  • Good oral and written communication skills promoting open communication and demonstrating respect for others
  • Strong work ethic and high standards of performance for self and work team
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability and willingness to learn

 

Pay Range: CAD $105,000 - $130,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
