Teck is looking for an experienced a Shift Leader, Suphide & Cadmium to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to a Production Superintendent, the shift leader will be accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the plants and for the development and training of employees reporting to them.
This role is based in the welcoming community of Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. Here you will find outdoor adventure at your fingertips! Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Develop and train direct reports
- Ensure the plant is operated in conformance with site policies and targets
- Collaborate with various departments to maintain operational readiness
- Facilitate and perform troubleshooting in support operational readiness
- Communicate and Coordinate with upstream and downstream plants
- Schedule crew training, vacation, and replacements for absences
- EH&S supervisory responsibilities as per WorkSafe BC and site policy
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in an industrial environment
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
- Preference given to candidates with Leaching plant or similar process experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and strong commitment towards, Trail’s Safety, Hygiene and Environmental policies
- Knowledge of the Collective Agreement and associated Letters of Understanding
- Experience managing crews in a unionized industrial environment
- Ability to motivate and hold others clearly accountable for their performance
- Ability to plan and prioritize their own work as well as the work of others
- Can gather and interpret information to make rational and realistic decisions
- Good oral and written communication skills; promotes open communication and demonstrates respect for others
- Encourages and facilitates employee ideas for continuous improvement, and fosters teamwork
- Has a strong work ethic and sets high standards of performance for self and work team
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability and willingness to learn
- Strong knowledge of Trail Operations’ plant and business area integration is an asset
- Understanding of Trail Environmental controls and systems preferred

Salary Range: $103000.0 - $127000.0
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
Please note this role does require the successful candidate to live within 100KM of Trail, British Columbia. Relocation assistance will be offered however there is no camp or company housing.
