Teck’s Trail Operations, located in the community of Trail in British Columbia, is one of the world’s largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Located in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern, British Columbia, Trail offers outdoor adventure at your fingertips. 

Role Overview

Teck is looking for an experienced Project Specialist to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to the Project Superintendent, Asset Management, the Project Specialist is responsible for planning, leading, coordinating and executing industrial construction projects.

Please note this role does require the successful candidate to live within 100KM of Trail,  British Columbia. Relocation assistance will be offered however there is no camp or company housing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Project management duties including leading studies and project execution to develop, advance and implement projects at Trail Operations
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team comprised of members from various business areas, departments, contractors and engineering/consulting teams
  • Lead the review and development of scopes of work, design criteria, engineering drawings and specifications
  • Lead the development of contracting strategies, schedules, and project cost estimates
  • Ensure that all known plant hazards are identified, and systems are in place to control, mitigate and to address them
  • Ensure commissioning activities are planned and executed prior to start-up

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a project management, engineering or project coordination role in an industrial or commercial construction environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, reports, procedures, and specifications from multiple technical disciplines
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office. Experience with MS Project a plus
  • Effective communication including verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team-based environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills

Pay Range: CAD $105,000 - $130,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
