Role Overview
Reporting to the Superintendent, the Project Coordinator is responsible for planning, leading, coordinating and executing projects related to, maintenance activities, outages, and emergency work.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Support the project lead for studies and execution planning to develop and implement projects.
- Prepare appropriation requests and feasibility studies
- Review maintenance scopes, design criteria, equipment specification, and constructability to ensure scope of work is well defined and the execution plan is achievable
- Ensure waste management (categorization, storage and disposal) is planned and executed
- Participate in contract strategy, scope of work, schedules and estimates to ensure cost and schedule meet Teck’s requirements for best value and quality
- Issue Purchase orders, contract notifications, requisitions and single source justifications
- Manage and coordinate daily contractor resources and tasks
- Manage, review and update project costs and schedules
- Act as the qualified coordinator for overlapping hazards between contractors
- Ensure all permits, contractor inductions and safe work plans are in place
- Ensure that plant hazards are identified and systems are in place to address
- Applicable material safety data sheets (MSDS)
- Follow site and plant procedures
- Complete Hazard Risk Assessments (HRA)
- Participating in Process Hazard Assessments (PHA), incident investigations, preventative action request (PAR’s) and corrective action requests (CAR’s) and Job Safety Observations (JSO)
- Developing and executing permits as required
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure safe work practices and work performed meets Teck standards
- Ensure commissioning activities are planned and supported along with Operational readiness prior to start-up
- Management of construction contracts and using construction change control processes
- Ensure that work packages are reviewed and managed appropriately through the MOC process
- Ensure the archiving of all project files and ensure project close out
- Sign-off of Assumption of Control and Ready for Start-Up documents
- Project post-mortem and completion reports
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a project coordinator, project management or equivalent role.
- Red seal trade or engineering degree would be considered an asset
- Excellent computer skills including MS Office Suite of products. Experience with JD Edwards, MS Project considered an asset
- Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, reports, procedures and specifications

Pay Range: CAD $107,000 - $132,000 per year
