Role Overview
Reporting to the Business Area Manager, the Production Superintendent, is accountable for directing the day-to-day operation of Operating plants within a Business Area.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Ensure the efficient operation of Business areas operating plants by developing and implementing operating strategies and controls in conjunction with operating, maintenance and technical personnel
- Establish and uphold safety, environmental, production, quality, hygiene and housekeeping standards. Ensure that policies and procedures are followed in compliance with regulations and agreements
- Set plant priorities and align objectives and goals with Business Area Manager.
- Audit plant performance to ensure effective operations and establish corrective action plans as needed
- Recommend and implement improvements by finding opportunities, working with team members, completing improvement initiatives, and validating performance results
- Assist and provide guidance in planning and coordinating shutdowns with plant operations and communicate timing requirements for planned outages
- Lead and mentor a team by clarifying accountabilities, setting expectations, organizing work, driving performance and excellence, and providing strategic direction
- Provide short and long-term performance and career development for employees
- Provide opportunities for assignments that develops skills, promotes learning, and grows people’s capabilities
- Advise and participate in performance management and succession planning programs
- Lead staffing and recruitment requirements for the Business Area production team
- Provide input into budgets by monitoring and reporting on expenditures and identifying opportunities to reduce costs and explaining variances
- Develop and maintain cross-functional working relationships with other business areas to ensure priorities are aligned with business requirements
- Collaborate with peers prioritizing transparent and proactive communications
Qualifications
- Technical Degree or Diploma in Mining or Processing or a combination of education and experience
- 8-10 years’ experience in operations (refining, smelting, processing)
- Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Proven leadership skills
- Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines
Pay Range: CAD $135,000 - $167,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
