Teck is looking for an experienced Procurement Coordinatorto join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Coordinator is accountable for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods, services, materials and equipment for the Teck Trail Operations. This includes sourcing and handling suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing purchase orders, supporting supply chain reporting and analysis and maintaining vendor relationships. This role will be positioned to assist the Procurement and Warehousing functions.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with a combination of commercial, systems, warehousing and technical education/experience who possesses excellent organization, analytics time management and problem-solving skills. Additionally, this preferred candidate must excel at building positive relationships with various stakeholders (internal and external) and be able to develop and support system improvements, commercial strategies and to reduce potential risk to the Trail Operations.
This role is based in the welcoming community of Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. Here you will find outdoor adventure at your fingertips! Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Lead an assigned set of commodities, contracts, or commercial arrangements including researching opportunities to reduce costs, working in cross-functional teams, and improving value from commercial arrangements
- Provide commercial guidance and advise end users on development of sourcing strategies, commercial negotiations, and identification of commercial risk and mitigation strategies
- Prepare bid lists, solicit quotations, and evaluate and recommend suppliers ensuring there are no detrimental commercial terms prior to order placement including patent infringements, labour agreements, and legal requirements, etc.
- Support supply chain logistics for key supply agreements from supplier location to receipt of goods including defining material packaging requirements, coordinating with production/operations as required, defining incoming transportation requirements, and coordinating supplier shipping and manufacturing schedules
- Collaborate with the Purchasing and Warehouse groups and other departments to identify, evaluate, and implement improvements to the procurement and warehouse systems, ensuring integration and enhanced efficiency
- Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for end users and staff, ensuring they are proficient in Procurement and Warehouse processes and system functionalities
- Collaborate with the Warehouse and Procurement team to support warehouse replenishment contracts, including identifying alternative sources of supplies to ensure availability of Warehouse supplies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Computer Sciences or related area is required. A combination between education and experience will be considered
- 5 years experience in a Supply Chain Management, Business Analyst , Operations, Maintenance or Project Management related role in on an industrial site is required.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Oracle (JDE) or SAP S/4HANA /Ariba systems is considered an asset.
- Operations Experience at the Trail Operations or a Mining and/or processing industry preferred

Salary Range: CAD $93,000 - $115,000
