Teck is looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to the Business Area Manager, the Maintenance Engineer is accountable for providing mechanical support to Trail Operations as a member of a plant team.

The Maintenance Engineer will provide engineering assistance for maintenance, project management, and asset management functions to maximize the availability and utilization of the production equipment. Specific functions include equipment inspections, asset life evaluations, maintenance planning, capital project planning for asset replacement and installation of new technologies. This challenging role will draw upon strong interpersonal communication skills and a broad technical background.

This role is based in the welcoming community of Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. Here you will find outdoor adventure at your fingertips! Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Manage the business area 3 & 20-year Major Maintenance and Capital Project portfolio
  • Write Risk Based Business Assessment (RBBA) documents for proposed Major Maintenance and Capital Projects
  • Build scopes of work for Major Maintenance and Capital Projects with sufficient detail for budgeting
  • Manage design changes to equipment stemming from approved actions identified through failure investigations or assessments of chronic equipment identified in Trail’s Bad Actor process
  • Conduct equipment condition assessments and create corrective actions for repair
  • Support the asset integrity and asset renewal components within Asset Management Plans
  • Execute engineering studies progressing through Stage Gate 1
  • Deliver the Management of Change (MOC) process for modifications to equipment design
  • Build commissioning plan as part of major maintenance  repair scoping
  • Supports the procurement process for non-standard or specialty parts
  • Promote a culture of predictive and proactive maintenance by ensuring systems, procedures, standards, and controls are built and followed
  • Lead all aspects of people practices for the business unit including performance management, talent development and coaching, and succession planning

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 4+ years of work experience in mining, smelting, refining, or similar heavy industrial facilities
  • Applicants need to be eligible for registration or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (“EGBC”) as this will be a condition of employment. Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration.
  • Strong communication skills as well as effective interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient with MS Office
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems is an asset

Salary Range: CAD $104,975 - $129,675

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

 

Please note this role does require the successful candidate to live within 100KM of Trail,  British Columbia. Relocation assistance will be offered however there is no camp or company housing.
