Teck is looking for an experienced Journeyperson Steel Fabricator to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to the Group Leader, the Journeyperson Steel Fabricator is responsible for the below.

 

This role is based in the welcoming community of Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. Here you will find outdoor adventure at your fingertips! Whether it’s biking and skiing, or the laid-back atmosphere of fishing and hiking, there is something for everyone.

 

Please note this role does require the successful candidate to live within 100KM of Trail. British, Columbia. Relocation assistance will be offered however there is no camp or company housing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Review job scopes and create work plans
  • Procure materials and equipment
  • Set job timelines and schedules
  • Set up and operate various heavy-duty metal-working machines such as brake presses, shears, cutting torches, grinders and drills, including computer numerical control (CNC) equipment, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill or otherwise form heavy-metal components
  • Fit and weld metal parts or sections together
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Steel Fabricator Certification (please upload copy of certification with your application)
  • Minimum C Level Welding Ticket; preference may be given to those with current A or B Level Welding Tickets.
  • Completion of Grade 12 or GED Certificate (please submit a copy of certificate to application)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience in an industrial maintenance environment and knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems would be a definite asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required
