Role Overview
Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the Group Superintendent is accountable for coordinating and supporting the day-to-day operation and maintenance activities in the plant to ensure objectives are achieved.
This position offers relocation assistance, a compressed workweek with alternating Fridays off and a flexible work policy. Come experience what work life balance is all about!
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Ensure the plant operates efficiently to meet production, quality, safety, environmental, and hygiene standards.
- Implement training plans to develop team skills and ensure high training standards.
- Actively review plant performance and implement mitigating actions to ensure conformance to KIV/KOV
- Coordinate plant activities, including maintenance and production schedules, to optimize work execution. Participate in work control process and coordinate plant activities for efficient work execution.
- Provide guidance and secure resources to address and resolve operating and metallurgical issues.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement changes using the Management of Change (MOC) process when necessary.
- Manage labor and supply costs to contribute to overall cost control.
- Develop and execute production plans to meet sales and operational requirements.
- Act as Plant Representative and Commissioning Lead for various projects where applicable.
- Develop and coordinate readiness systems for routine and major shutdowns as required.
- Maintain close working relationships with other departments including Metallurgy Control, Metallurgy Development, Projects & Engineering, and Asset Management groups to achieve site objectives.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ working experience in a metallurgical industry
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
- Post secondary education or equivalent is preferred
- Knowledge of the Collective Agreement and associated Letters of Understanding
- Good oral and written communication skills, promotes open communication and demonstrates respect for others
- Encourages and facilitates employee ideas for continuous improvement, and fosters teamwork
- Strong work ethic and sets high standards of performance for self and work team
- Experience with ISO quality certification and/or internal/external audit would be an asset
