Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Group Leader will be accountable for coordinating and directing maintenance in a safe and cost-effective manner.

To be successful, we require someone with excellent supervisory, decision-making and prioritization skills with a high standard for performance and teamwork.

This role is based in the welcoming community of Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. Here you will find outdoor adventure at your fingertips! Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, ensuring the goal that everyone goes home safe and healthy every day
  • Follow the Teck Reliability & Maintenance process in prioritizing, planning and scheduling crews to perform work according to the 6-week schedule to maximize crew utilization and equipment availability.
  • Monitor the jobs in progress to ensure work quality, efficiency and adherence to applicable safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with various Group Leaders and/or plant Shift Leaders to coordinate maintenance work and ensure work is performed according to government and Teck standards.
  • Assist with the execution and coordination of work for major shutdowns and turnarounds by ensuring smooth and safe completion.
  • Respond to operational needs by reassigning trades resources for unplanned work with follow-up to continuously minimize unplanned work.
  • Assist personnel by investigating problems, recommending solutions, providing technical direction and advice and providing assistance in the selection of new equipment. 
  • Follow the Teck Reliability & Maintenance process & JDE system to maintain master data for parts and equipment information and capture repair and failure history for improvement.
  • Ensure a well-trained crew by using performance management principles, implementing training programs, scheduling employees for training and completing job performance evaluations.

Qualifications:

  • Red Seal certification, bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a safe, environmentally conscious, and effective manner.
  • Knowledge of the Collective Agreement and associated Letters of Understanding
  • Ability to motivate and hold others accountable for their performance.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, promotes open communication and demonstrates respect for others.
  • Encourages and facilitates employee ideas for continuous improvement and fosters teamwork.
  • Strong work ethic and sets high standards of performance for self and work team.
  • Experience managing multiple trades is an asset.
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office, JDE, etc.

Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Please note this role does require the successful candidate to live within 100KM of Trail,  British Columbia. Relocation assistance will be offered however there is no camp or company housing.
