Role Overview

Teck is looking for a Coordinator, Industrial Hygiene to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety & Risk, the Coordinator, Industrial Hygiene will support the industrial hygiene team at Teck Trail Operations.

In this role, you will assist and provide technical authority on occupational health, driving continuous improvement programs that safeguard employee well-being.

The Coordinator, Industrial Hygiene works closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, environment, and safety teams to identify risks, implement practical solutions, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Support the implementation, and continuous improvement of occupational health and hygiene programs
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the identification, evaluation and control of industrial chemical and physical hazards
  • Providing assistance and direction to technical and operations personnel regarding Industrial Hygiene hazards, controls and monitoring
  • Establish and promote the maintenance and continuous improvement of a Safe and Healthy-working environment through personal commitment to the principles of the Trail Operations Safety and Health Policy and ensure personal compliance with the specific Safety & Health System responsibilities
  • Initiate, develop and implement chemical, physical and biological exposure monitoring and assessment studies, evaluate and interpret the data obtained from such studies and recommend mitigation programs to protect the health of employees.
  • Provide advice and assistance to Business Area staff in problem-solving and improvement projects and in resolving issues regarding hygiene and occupational health concerns.
  • Coordinate with the Environment Department to facilitate the Chemical Management of Change process for chemical review and approval at Trail Operations. Coordinate the Trail Safety Data Sheet program (SDS) program.
  • Provide technical training and informational presentations to keep employees and management aware of hygiene and occupational health concerns, programs and regulatory issues.
  • Keep informed of new developments in the field of occupational hygiene and health and safety legislation.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Occupational Health or Hygiene
  • Possess or eligible and actively working towards industrial hygiene professional certification: example Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Expertise in industrial hygiene risk assessment, hazard control, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Pay Range: CAD $75,968.75 - $105,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
