Senior Process Specialist or Engineer, Biogeochemistry

Location:

Sparwood, BC, CA

Closing Date: September 18, 2020

Be at the forefront of a novel ground-breaking water treatment technology!

Reporting to the Senior Engineer Supervisor Processing, the Senior Process Specialist or Engineer, Biogeochemistry is responsible for providing technical leadership and process recommendations to the operations team for our Saturated Rock Fill (SRF) operation, a technology that is redefining the way we operate water treatment facilities.

Experience and knowledge of biogeochemistry and process engineering will be vital in this role. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be required in order to engage people at all levels of the organization, across all our operations. We also require someone detailed, who is a problem solver, highly motivated, and is able to develop a team of junior technical staff.

In this role you will have the opportunity to work with a brand-new technology and become the domain specialist. You will be able to build the role and craft the SRF technical operation direction. As we work to implement this technology at our other sites you will be involved in the expansion of our SRF operations. Since this is a new emerging role flexibility will be needed as projects evolve and the role is defined.

The SRF technology is a new process being developed for removal of selenium and nitrate from mine impacted waters. The first full scale demonstration of this novel technology began operations in 2018 and a second SRF is currently under development with operations expected to begin shortly. An introduction to this technology was presented at the 2019 MEND workshop: “Removing Selenium and Nitrate using Saturated Rock Fills: From Concept to Full Scale Operation”.
