Operational Readiness Lead

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Operational Readiness Lead, Projects is responsible for leading OR for the New Office Building in the planning and execution stages, while engaging with all stakeholders to provide successful delivery to the project owner.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem- solving skills and the ability to multitask are vital in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures 
  • Develop and execute an Operation and Maintenance Plan for the new office building
  • Incorporate the Operation and Maintenance Plan into the Centralized Maintenance Management System (AX)
  • Develop and maintain OR projects, plans, budgets, and schedules, including leading and supporting the transition of the Office building to the operations team through effective OR management, commissioning, and start-up planning 
  • Source and create service contracts for the ongoing operation and maintenance of the new office building
  • Establish all required maintenance agreements with the District of Sparwood as required by our permit conditions
  • Advise and support operations staff to ensure alignment and engagement; recommend personnel and other requirements to build effective projects teams that are resourced to achieve objectives 
  • Develop and execute the Communication Plan
  • Develop policies and procedures for the new building
  • Manage and report on the OR scope for the Sparwood office building
  • Support in project turnover to owner’s team including transfer of building ownership, documents, operating manuals, and other assets 
  • Ensure Operation Readiness processes including Teck Project Delivery Framework (TPDF) stage gate, management of change, project charters, tendering, request for proposals, with contract and contractors’ supervision effectively applied at a level applicable to the specific project
  • Integrate into the primary Project team to help translate what the Project will be delivering to what the OR requirements are to ensure alignment and effective engagement with the operational organization 
  • Proactively manage changes in project scopes, identify potential conflicts and devise contingency plans
  • Enable efficient decision processes through information gathering, collaboration, analysis, and providing recommendations while preparing all documents for operational readiness of the building 
  • Participate in all building commissioning activities and ZERO Carbon certification 
  • Plan all the moves from the existing facilities to the new building, including planning the decommissioning of the existing facilities 
  • Manage all furniture installation through coordination with the furniture supplier 
  • Maintain SharePoint site and ensure strong document control practices across the Project

Qualifications:

  • Minimum four years of project work experience including all aspects of project management, engineering design, construction, and OR
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering is preferred
  • Experience in the principles of Organizational Change Management (OCM) and applying it in project delivery
  • Experience in informal coaching and supporting others and managing multiple internal stakeholders and external contractors 
  • Experience with the Teck TPDF approach to deliver projects is desirable
  • Experience working on large projects, coordinating multiple internal and external resources, external contractors, and consultants
  • Experience in OR framework, team alignment, implementation rollouts, and effective operational collaborator engagement with internal resources and external contractors
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office® package, MS Projects, and Share Point

Salary Range: $117,000 - $144,000

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

 

Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
