Mining Engineer, Integrated Operations


Sparwood, BC, CA

Reporting to the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Integrated Operations, the Mining Engineer is responsible for coordinating with both site-based and supply chain departments, working collaboratively with their teams to develop mine plans and build alignment with the supply chain.


To be successful, we are looking for someone with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, who can maintain flexibility and creativity in dealing with scheduling and mine planning; someone with strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills, who can prioritize competing demands in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Lastly, this role requires a self-directed individual with strong time-management skills, who can work collaboratively with others in a team setting.

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Optimize truck shovel operation to maximize production and minimize operating costs at all times
  • Identify improvement opportunities to reduce variation in performance across sites
  • Develop 24-month Mine Plans and pertaining presentations, documentation, and provide support for related capital forecasting and cost modelling
  • Build a mine plan schedule that includes production targets, major, and support equipment hours, requirements, and operating days
  • Ensure mine plans are coordinated with geotechnical, environmental, and other considerations
  • Perform economic analysis and cost estimating as well as assist with production and cost reporting, tracking, and invoicing
  • Create detailed costing models to evaluate mining options
  • Develop project schedules, budget, risk register, and appropriate requests, and track and compare to previous plans
  • Integrate and communicate with other site, logistics, and marketing groups to develop the best overall plan



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with Mining, Civil, Geological or Geotechnical specialization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Registered as a professional engineer in Canada; ability to register as a member of the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC)
  • Minimum four years of well-rounded experience in areas including: mine planning, drilling and blasting, mine design, and/or mine operations
  • Experience working on projects; specifically coordinating, and communicating with multiple internal and external groups
  • Strong digital proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite®: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
