Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice

Teck is currently accepting applications for the position of Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice. Teck recruits proactively to build a talent pool for current and/or future opportunities. 


Reporting to the Light Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, the Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice will work alongside a Red Seal Light Vehicle Mechanics and are responsible for the maintenance and repair of light and medium duty vehicle fleet as well as related equipment used in mining.



  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures 
  • Maintain and repair auxiliary equipment including forklifts, warehouse part stacker, generator sets, portable compressors, and man lifts
  • Maintain, repair, and control the distribution of tools including pumps, impact wrenches, hose reels, presses, and hose machines
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are safe in working condition
  • Data input to computer systems for work orders and parts ordering
  • Return all parts and receive of parts for the Maintenance Shops
  • Diagnose equipment problems
  • Disassemble and reassemble various components such as; engine, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, clutch and differentials



  • Registered 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team 
  • Previous mining experience is an asset
