Coordinator, Standards & Procedures

Reporting to the Lead, Standards and Procedures, the Coordinator, Standards and Procedures is responsible for coordinating the training and competency program for environmental personnel at both the operating sites and business unit level. This position will deliver environmental training to our operations in the Elk Valley.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong organization, interpersonal, and communication skills, who can collaborate with other departments and senior technical experts and work within a multi-disciplinary team environment. This person uses creativity to find solutions in a fast-paced environment in an independent manner.

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Coordinate the training and competency program for environmental personnel at both the operating sites and business unit level 
  • Maintain a training matrix for environmental personnel at both the operating sites and business unit level
  • Support in the development of environmental controls that address environmental compliance obligations and known risk sources at both the operating sites and business unit level
  • Update controls based on incident learnings from both basic and Incident Cause Analysis Methods (ICAM) incident investigations
  • Update controls when alerted to regulatory changes or changes in site practice
  • Develop and deliver presentations to a variety of departments and disciplines 



  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field in combination with meaningful experience, such as policy work, training and administration
  • Minimum two years' experience in assessing and implementing environmental standards and procedures
  • Knowledge and experience with relevant environmental practices, processes, and legislation
  • Excellent digital literacy and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite®
  • Experience in delivering training is an asset
