Reporting to the Integrated Planning & Production Superintendent, the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Water Resources, is responsible for leading the water planning function under the Integrated Planning & Production Superintendent, leading the water planning function by developing and executing site-wide water strategies, overseeing water forecasting for near, medium, and long term availability, infrastructure planning, and ensuring monitoring programs support compliance and informed decision-making. This role will also provide technical leadership and QA/QC oversight, manage water-related risks and cross-functional coordination, and mentor the team while ensuring all work meets professional and operational standards.
To be successful, we are looking for a motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills and proven experience in overseeing and coordinating multiple internal resources and external consultants in high functioning, collaborative teams. The candidate must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to develop and communicate practical recommendations to mine management, engineers, and operational personnel. Demonstrated experience with water planning, modelling, and infrastructure planning is required. The ability to work well in a team environment, manage consultants, and oversee planning deliverables is integral to the role.

Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures, perform regular Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) field visits.
- Develop and maintain relationships with management, technical and operational staff
- Lead the water planning function under Integrated Planning & Production
- Develop and maintain site-wide water management strategies and plans
- Provide technical oversight and direction for water modelling
- Ensure QA/QC and professional review of all water-related work, including consultant deliverables
- Ensure monitoring programs and performance tracking support compliance and decision-making
- Lead water risk identification, assessment, and integration into planning processes
- Coordinate water-related activities across operations, sustainability, and corporate teams
- Mentor and supervise the existing water planning team
- Ownership of infrastructure strategies required for current operations and Mine Life Extension
- Leading CAPEX and OPEX planning for water resources activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in water resources engineering
- Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) as a P. Eng.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in water management, planning, or related field
- Strong technical background in water modelling, planning, and infrastructure design
- Demonstrated experience in technical leadership
- Strong understanding of regulatory, environmental, and operational water requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to integrate key stakeholders
- Continuous improvement mindset with focus on data quality and operational value
- Valid driver’s license
Pay Range: CAD $138,000 - $170,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
Working Conditions:
- Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
- Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
