Role Overview

 

Reporting to the Lead, ERP Data, the Senior Data Developer will work directly with Business, Process and Data Owners to provide technical assistance for data migration activities. This includes identifying data sources to be migrated, owning the migration platform, applying profiling rules, writing transformation scripts, defining data validation processes, etc.

 

As part of the ERP 2.0 implementation, Teck needs to migrate data from multiple legacy ERP solutions to SAP S/4 HANA. This is a critical activity which will highly influence the program’s success. This role is part of the ERP Data Migration team which consists of functional business analysts and data developers.

 

Scope includes working across multiple functional areas (Finance, Supply Chain, Asset Management, Marketing & Logistics) and coordinating efforts with global and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Develop and maintain Syniti data migration connections, objects, mappings, validations, and transformations for SAP S/4HANA
  • Collaborate with functional Business Analysts to understand legacy and target system data structures and business rules
  • Work with business partners to validate transformed data and resolve discrepancies
  • Participate in data profiling, cleansing, transformation, and loading activities
  • Perform unit and integration testing of data migration loads; support user acceptance testing (UAT) where required
  • Lead and tackle issues in the data migration cycle—ensuring accurate documentation and root cause analysis
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, mapping specs, and runbooks for repeatable and auditable data loads
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and data quality standards
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate data developers as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 7 years of related experience with ETL, including sophisticated knowledge of the SQL language, and experience in dealing with various types of ERP systems
  • Experience with data migration and transformation
  • Proficient in SQL, ETL processes, data mapping, and error handling in migration tools
  • Experience with ERP systems and related data objects/models
  • Knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA data models across functional areas
  • High accuracy in data handling, transformation logic, and documentation
  • Experience with Syniti ADMM for data migration (nice to have)
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Proactive in identifying data issues and driving resolution
  • Skilled at working with multi-functional teams including IT, business SMEs, and data owners
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to support documentation and stakeholder engagement
  • Results-driven with a strong sense of accountability to timelines and deliverables
  • Comfortable working in Agile or hybrid project environments with competing priorities

 

Pay Range: 

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
