Reporting to the Purchasing General Supervisor, the Senior Buyer is responsible for, obtaining the best overall value in planning and acquiring services and materials while meeting the ongoing requirements of user departments and providing support to the THVCP Supply Chain Management Team.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Be a Courageous Safety Leader through promotion and adherence to established Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Manage commonly practiced procurement processes, including planning, preparing, administering RFI / RFQ / RFP, evaluating, negotiating, and awarding various materials and services contracts.
  • Research, develop, implement, and administer successful negotiation strategies to establish favorable commercial terms and conditions.
  • Administer the contracting life cycle through commonly practiced and approved industry methods for large-scale/complex projects.
  • Lead market and economic analysis to propose strategic sourcing opportunities and Supply Management optimization.
  • Identify, lead, and actively participate in business improvement initiatives to support HVC Communities of Interest.
  • Support training of end users on internal and corporate policies; maintain confidentiality and work at the highest level of professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive purchasing experience.
  • Completion or enrolment in the Supply Chain Management Professional designation.
  • Post-Secondary diploma/degree in a related field such as Office Administration, Accounting,
  • Business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience in the Supply Chain Management field with a good understanding of contract structures, terms, and conditions.
  • Experience in maintenance and capital project support, including scoping, bidding, negotiating, and contract administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage RFX process and draft contracts.
  • Ability to handle large volumes of work and multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience in asset recovery (inventory and equipment).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working under minimal supervision.
  • Possess a minimum of a valid class 5 driver’s license.

Salary Range: CAD $105,000 - $130,000 per year

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
