Reporting to the Reliability Lead, the Reliability Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability and performance of fixed plant equipment (e.g., crushers, conveyors, mills, pumps) at Highland Valley Copper. The successful candidate will lead the development and optimization of maintenance strategies, support root cause failure analysis and facilitate key initiatives that reduce downtime, enhance asset availability, and lower lifecycle costs.
To be successful in this role, we require someone with excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a strong sense of leadership and team collaboration; someone who has a strong focus on safety and personal responsibility, is self-motivated and able to maintain a positive and adaptable demeanor in fast-paced environment. The ability to prioritize opportunities, programs and improvements, and champion innovative ideas that provide the largest organizational is vital in the role.
Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Develop and optimize strategies to improve equipment availability, reliability and maintainability using methodologies like RCM, FMEA, PMO
- Lead or support failure investigations to determine root causes of unplanned downtime through Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 5Ys
- Track and report KPIS like availability, reliability, MTBF, MTTR, and OEE
- Implement predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, infrared) including coordination of inspections and follow-up actions
- Work collaboratively with maintenance, operations, engineering, and OEM vendors including participating in cross-site reliability networks
- Lead or support reliability related projects – asset upgrades, system redesign and continuous improvement projects
- Assist operating areas in the development of maintenance plans, critical spares strategies, and stocking levels
- Ensure effective use of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to schedule and track work
- Establish and monitor key asset health indicators and support real-time condition monitoring systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; P.Eng or EIT designation and technical certifications (CMRP, CRE, CRL etc.) are assets
- Eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC)
- Reliability or mechanical maintenance experience in mining, heavy industry, or oil & gas
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Proficient in SAP, Maximo are assets
