Team Leader Maintenance Improvement and Shutdown Management

Reporting to the Manager Maintenance & Asset Management, the Team Leader Maintenance Improvement and Shutdown Management, will be responsible for management of the RDO work management improvement program, coordination of planning activities and oversee the delivery of optimized 12-month major shutdown and maintenance 90-day plans. The role will also work with Integrated Operations and Execution teams to obtain input on shutdown sequencing to assure RDO efficiently delivers on safe production commitments and to maximize value.
Key outcomes the role is intended to support:
- Improvement in maintenance performance throughout Red Dog Operations resulting in increased availability and reduced maintenance costs
- Execution of the shutdown plan to optimize sequencing and timing of shutdowns
- Improvement opportunities are identified and are escalated through the continuous improvement framework
Schedule will be 2 weeks on-site, 2 weeks off-site
Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor Teck’s commitment to health, safety, environmental and community (HSEC) protection as a core value.
- Oversee the coordination of planning activities and the 12-month shutdown plan, ensuring cross-functional input is gathered
- Work with the Integrated Operations team to obtain input on shutdown sequencing based on planning implications and ensure the sequencing of major downs is optimized to minimize downtime
- Manage the optimization of maintenance plans and provide service and procurement requirements to Supply Chain Management
- Provide detailed plans for major shutdowns to Operations & Maintenance Execution teams and manage execution.
- Collaborate with Operations & Maintenance Execution teams to obtain input on resourcing availability to support major shutdown activities
- Oversee the development and maintenance of major shutdown procedures, processes, standards and guidelines in alignment with health, safety and risk standards
- Ownership and communication of work management standards across site in alignment with Teck Corporate standards.
- Oversee routine work management standard audits and identify gaps and opportunities to drive improvements
- Stay informed about the impact of asset downtime to advise on priority-based decision making and maintenance planning
- Positively recognize and reinforce the long-term impacts to production as a result of interruptions from proactive asset management
- Prioritize continuous improvement through coaching and development conversations
- Balance maximum safety with minimal operational disruption when making shutdown planning decisions
- Oversee team development including assessment of team performance, professional development discussions, identification of learning and growth opportunities, and succession planning
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum ten (10) years working in an industrial environment with a strong knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems, Continuous Improvement and shutdown planning principles.
- Minimum five (5) years of managing high performing teams in the above-mentioned specializations.
- Highly motivated team player with ability to develop strong relationships across multi operational disciplines
- Strong communicator, able to communicate clearly and concisely with key stakeholders
- Able to facilitate and develop strong relationships across site
- Enthusiastic and driven by interacting with other teams
- Able to review and work with data to drive decision making
- Exhibit courageous leadership and bravery in providing strong guidance in a variety of situations
- Efficiently work under high pressure situations and embed effective time management in execution of responsibilities
- Advanced computer skills, particularly spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications
