Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world’s largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Superintendent, Mill Operations and Maintenance Execution.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the safe execution of mill operations to maximize compliance to the shift plan and ensure assets are operated safely in accordance to design specifications.
• This includes, but not limited to:
Mill Processing, Crushing, Grinding, Floatation, De-Watering, and Water Discharging.
• Ensure jobs are planned, risk management practices employed, critical controls are in place and verified as effective.
• Manage the delivery of Mill Operations Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned to industry best practices including development, communication of updates and compliance enforcement.
• Ensure operator care round compliance and develop actions from the care rounds to improve mill operations performance and standards.
• Collaborate with mill operations teams to identify training requirements and support training program development.
• Manage the development of the workforce budget to identify operators required to execute plan.
• Provide input on operational viability and productivity inputs for production plans.
• Ensure feedback loops function effectively to communicate learnings from plan execution to the Integrated Planning, Integrated Production and Maintenance & Asset Management team to support future planning improvements.
• Consult and provide input deviations that require escalation to the Integrated Production team if scenario analysis is required to develop an immediate response plan.
• Identify improvement opportunities in processes and systems and execute through the RDO continuous improvement framework.
• Coach Frontline Leaders on key accountabilities and expectations on their roles for ensuring safe work planning practices are in place and utilized both before work begins and during work as conditions change.
• Ensuring hazards are effectively managed in the workplace.
• Oversee team development including assessment of team performance, professional development discussions, identification of learning and growth opportunities, and succession planning.
• Support the development and implementation of annual operational budgets and strategies.
• In the absence of the manager, may assume the duties of the Manager - Operations and Maintenance Execution to provide rotational coverage as needed.
Rotational work schedule: two (2) weeks on-site at Red Dog Mine in Northwest Alaska working 11.5 hours a day, 7 days a week, and one (1) week off. Transportation to the worksite from Anchorage Airport provided by the employer.
5% international travel.
