Reporting to the Manager- Mine and Port, the Mine Senior Production Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the 24-hour production plan for the RDO Mine Operation. The role will work with mine operations, maintenance, and the mine technical teams to support trade-offs and decision making to deal with any variances to plan that occur throughout the shift and ensure that key operating strategies are in place, understood and being effectively followed. The Senior Production Coordinator will also work closely with the planning teams to ensure that variances that occur during the shift are effectively communicated, incorporated into the next planning cycle, and lessons learned are applied to future plans.
To be successful, this role will require a candidate with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, who can build relationships across multi-disciplinary teams. This role requires a self-motivated individual who is driven to make data-based decisions and can handle contending priorities in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, and dynamic environment.
Key outcomes the role is intended to support:
- Strong execution compliance to the 24-hour plan through effective coordination.
- Decision making that considers the entire value chain and therefore is aimed at maximizing the key business outcomes for the site. The role will improve consistency in decision making to manage variances and non-compliance to plan.

Rotation schedule will be an even rotation, 2 weeks on-site and 2 weeks off-site
Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor Teck’s commitment to health, safety, environmental and community (HSEC) protection
- Build effective working relationships with key staff in the Mine Operations, Maintenance and Mill Operations
- Provide day-to-day support to develop and communicate the Shift Plan, including defining project priorities, supporting In-Shift Coordination with a focus on bottlenecks and maximizing key business outcomes
- Drive the RDO variance response process to assess, develop and communicate action plans to address in shift variances. Ensure that key operating strategies are in place, understood and being effectively followed
- Responsible for In-Shift Coordination (in-shift trade-off decisions, and plan recovery scenario analysis)
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the operation by identifying and mitigating non-value adding activities and inefficiencies
- Coordinate shift handovers between various execution teams and support the development of the integrated shift execution plan
- Coordinate the short interval control meeting in order to adjust the shift execution plan based on actual conditions so that short term execution targets can be achieved
- Communicate variances to plan during integrated targeting meeting
- Provide feedback to the Planning team on trade-offs completed in-shift that need to be incorporated into the upcoming Shift Plan
- Provide coordination at key interfaces with Execution, including Mine & Mill Operations and Maintenance to ensure plan priorities are being driven and variance responses are being communicated effectively across teams
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science/Engineering degree (Mining, Industrial, Geological, etc) is required
- Minimum ten (8) years working in an mining environment with strong knowledge of mine planning, scheduling, and the overall mine operational environment
- Strong communicator, able to clearly and concisely communicate with key stakeholders
- Highly motivated team player with ability to develop strong relationships across multi operational disciplines
- Exhibit courageous leadership in providing guidance in a variety of situations and environments
- Efficiently work under high pressure situations and embed effective time management in execution of responsibilities
- Basic understanding of mine dispatch and control room routines
- Advanced software skills in MS Office especially spreadsheet
- Knowledge of PowerBI and/or other data analytics platforms
- Familiarity with Mine Planning Software (Minesite, Deswik, Vulcan or other)
