Mine Systems Technician x 2

Reporting to the Principal Mine Engineer at Red Dog Operations, the Mine Systems Technician, is responsible for implementing and maintaining various technologies that allow the safe and efficient operation of mining processes. The Mine Systems Technician is a primarily field-based role that will require a combination of technical and critical thinking skills that will allow the incumbent to maintain various technologies that maximize the productivity and efficiency of the mining operation. Mine Systems currently include: Wenco Dispatch, Bench Manager, CAT Terrain, and a wireless network.
The position will be held in a 2 x 2 shift at Red Dog Operations (RDO, located in the Alaska region).
•    Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
•    Maintain system components in the mine area to guarantee the connectivity of various mining technologies.
•    Work with corporate specialist groups to facilitate and support infrastructure improvements and resolution of incidents and problems.
•    Keep up-to-date documentation of the systems during the execution of changes to the infrastructure resulting from maintenance activities.
•    Participate as part of the mine technical team to identify, evaluate and implement new technologies or changes to the infrastructure as necessary.
•    Guarantee the safety and availability of mining systems.
•    Typical responsibilities include the installation and troubleshooting of mobile computers, GPS machine control & guidance systems, 12/24V DC electrical systems, solar panels, wired and wireless (802.11) network support, and ensuring proper network availability and coverage via static and mobile communication trailers.  
•    Electrical or Electronic Technician Diploma, or some other related discipline and applicable work experience. 
•    Experience with IP wired and wireless networks 
•    Minimum experience between 1 and 3 years performing similar functions in an industrial setting
•    Knowledge of the best practices for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of digital systems in mining.
•    Familiarity with Wenco, Bench Manager, CAT Terrain, or other mobile equipment platforms would be considered an asset
•    Ability to work in the field for extended periods under various environmental conditions.
•    A valid Alaska driver license is preferred
