Role Overview
Reporting to the Mine General Supervisor, the Mine Operations Field Trainer position is responsible for reviewing of training requirements, develop training content and supporting documentation (SOP, SWP, etc), conduct training, maintain training records, and coordinate training activities
Rotation schedule will be an even rotation, 2 weeks on site and 2 weeks off
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure all MSHA standards and documents required are completed and adhered to
• Establish training sessions to ensure trainees are sufficiently equipped for their work tasks, prioritizing health, safety, and proficiency
• Develop and maintain training content including but not limited to: Safety Operating Procedures, Operator Manuals, Training Videos, and Standards
• Coordinate and handle in-field training with developed modules, supporting trainees' growth in equipment proficiency
• Measure and evaluate performance by assigning projects, conducting practice sessions and obtaining feedback from supervision as to trainee’s performance after the training session
• Provide follow-up on training by issuing evaluations, maintaining frequent contact with supervision, conduct on-the-job training and keeping up with current records of mine department personnel training status
• Maintain all training records and issue monthly departmental training status reports
• Maintain a high degree of oral communicative skills to encourage the active participation of trainees
• Ensure employees are provided with the vital safety equipment to safely complete their jobs and that all employees are familiar with the operations’ safety and operating procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
• High School Diploma (or equivalent experience)
• Seven (7) years of heavy equipment operating experience in open pit mining or related construction field
• Three (3) of proven operator training experience
• Valid Driver’s License is preferred
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work well with others and have a professional demeanor
• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
• Knowledge of all the major and auxiliary types of equipment used in an open pit load/ haul dump operation
• Must possess the skill to accurately evaluate trainee performance, ensuring their ability to operate safely
